The Damned

Zmierzch bogów · after the screenplay by Nicola Badalucco, Enrico Medioli and Luchino Visconti

Visconti's film adapted for the stage and played site-specifically in the historic pump hall of the Bydgoszcz Waterworks Museum, with a score by Karol Nepelski and a company of thirteen.

About the production

Visconti's 1969 film follows a German industrial dynasty through the first years of the Nazi state, as the family destroys itself from inside. Raźniak adapted the screenplay for the stage and moved it out of the theatre building altogether: the performance is played in the pump hall of the Bydgoszcz Waterworks Museum.

Karol Nepelski wrote the score, Barbara Guzik the set and costumes; the company is thirteen strong, with Kamilla Baar appearing as a guest. The performance runs 150 minutes with an interval and uses strobe lighting.
